d3 LA08 - The process of Thumbnailing

Designers need to have the ability to interpret what the client wants, often in many ways.

Thumbnailing is a process of creating quick but small pencil sketches of the initial idea. It is still considered the most efficient way of drafting initial visuals before hitting the computers.

Activity

In this activity, draw a banana in 50 ways. Carefully consider the various graphic design elements and principles - including cropping, symmetry, spatial relationship, negative space, texture, scale and colour.

Select what you consider is the best solution and execute it in a larger rectangle above the 49 thumbnails.
